Textile artist Lynne Stein, from Manchester, UK, visited Jerusalem to collaborate with young patients on an exciting new textile mural for the clinic’s walls in May. Children from the North Cheshire Jewish Primary School in Manchester assisted in the creation of the first half of the mural, and Jerusalem children helped Stein finish the piece. Materials for the mural were donated in the form of cast-off clothing by British celebrities such as actresses Joanna Lumley and Maureen Lipman, as well as Israeli charities Amit and Yavneh Olami. The project offered a positive model for promoting peace, friendship, and community through charity and volunteering, while fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment among the children. Stein has undertaken numerous public art commissions and often works with diverse community groups in a variety of settings. Her work has been featured on BBC television, in books and magazines, and has received support from the Arts Council, and the Baring Foundation.
