In November DVI dentists from around the world came to Israel for a special continuing education course with Dr. Gordon Christensen, who donated all tuition from non-Israeli course participants to DVI. A long-time friend of DVI, Dr. Christensen planned his trip to Israel a year in advance, determined to celebrate our 30th Anniversary in a special way. His seminar, “The Christensen Bottom Line” and an update on prosthetic dentistry, was a tremendous success, with hundreds of dentists eager to get a private word in with Dr. Christensen. A lucky few, who had come specifically for DVI, were invited to a private dinner with Gordon later that evening. The dinner was emotionally touching for all present, including a significant delegation from DVI-France and Septodont VP Franck Schopin.
Ran Tuttnauer sponsored the dinner and Zev Birger presented Gordon with a professionally enhanced photo taken of Jerusalem’s Old City and Jaffa Gate almost 100 years ago, the highlight of the photo being a prominent dental clinic as the main structure across the street from Jaffa Gate. Gordon was very touched by this gift, which Zev explained had first been discovered by Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, who had presented it to Trudi Birger as a gift to DVI. Thirty years of philanthropy, volunteerism and an organization which has become a family were celebrated, as new and old friends chatted delightedly with each other and with Gordon Christensen.
